She knew becoming a mom would change her. What she didnโ€™t know was how much of her heart would be walking around outside her body wrapped up in 7 pounds of swaddled vulnerability.

No one warned her about the endless "what ifs" that flooded her brain all night especially at 3 a.m.

What if sheโ€™s not eating enough?

What if that sneeze means something serious?

What if she's not doing something right?

She worries if she's bonding enough, if she's too tired to notice the little things, if she'll ever feel like โ€œherselfโ€ again. She smiles through visits and says, โ€œWeโ€™re doing great,โ€ but the truth is, sometimes She's terrified. And exhausted. And overwhelmed by the love and the weight of responsibility all at once.

But in the quiet moments when they wrap their tiny fingers around theirs, when they look up at them like they're their whole world they remember this:

Itโ€™s okay to worry. It means I care. It means Iโ€™m trying.

And maybe thatโ€™s what being a good mom really looks like.

To every new mom out there who feels like sheโ€™s barely holding it together youโ€™re not alone. Youโ€™re doing better than you think โค๏ธ
